The vice mayor of Pasig City has apologized for a spelling error in a Teachers’ Day banner.
At least eight banners carrying the message “Happy techears day!” attributed to Vice Mayor Iyo Caruncho Bernardo were placed in different areas in Pasig City. However, following the spelling error, they were taken down and were replaced with corrected versions that same day.
Bernardo apologized for the mistake. He also thanked those who called the office to alert them of the error.
Bernardo’s staff said the printing company that saw to the layout and printing of the banner were responsible for the spelling mistake. However, they admitted that they were unable to check the final output before they hung the banner.
They added that they hope netizens would stop sharing and deriding the picture of the faulty banners.
